When to use ExpandArticle
If you're looking for guidance on when to use this tag (vs. Template:Stub or neither at all), Stub September has a nice writeup! -- Quaelegit (talk) 20:44, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
Bring back padding?
Now that we've migrated to ambox, how do we feel about preserving the original styling by bringing back the 10 px of padding? Implemented here for those who want to take a look: https://fanlore.org/w/index.php?title=Template:ExpandArticle/sandbox&oldid=2578984 -- FBV (talk) 10:18, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- I am not in favor of left-aligned notices outside of section notices (which is what the "small" parameter is intended to be for) because it creates an "uneven bookshelf" look and visual clutter when multiple notices are stacked, which is often the case on Fanlore. It also creates visual inconsistency with how the notices appear on mobile (centered and taking up the entire length of the div). On mobile, it also results in this insanity. (Note that my same thoughts here also apply to the Stub article, so I will not be copying over to the other talk page) Pinky G Rocket (talk) 17:07, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- Whoops, that extra padding on mobile is a from a leftover edit of some other padding I was trying. Thanks for catching that. Should look good on mobile now here: https://fanlore.org/w/index.php?title=Template:ExpandArticle/sandbox&oldid=2579254
- Just to clarify, I'm not changing the behavior of the template: I am only making it so when it's in left-sided minibox mode, it has more padding, like it used to have. This won't change how it looks when it's big, and it won't change "when is it big and when is it small" - it is an attempt to make it look more like the old template before the ambox migration. -- FBV (talk) 00:18, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
- OH, OKAY - if it's only for small mode then yeah I'm cool with that. Sorry for the confusion. I'll draft up a revision to the TemplateStyles stylesheet so this doesn't have to be implemented in individual style or textstyle arguments for every notice that uses ambox.
