found some criticism/comments explaining why people were annoyed with the essay:

AO3 posts are locked? Think we have cupidsbower (will check). Am running out of steam so I may just post the rough reorg and let others hack away. Stay tuned.MeeDee (talk) 03:49, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
The first draft of the "topical" comment section is complete. This is not my best work. Many comments were shoe-horned into sections. For many of the FFA comments I ran out of steam, and left them categorized under the platform. The "Vagina Meta"? is not the best shorthand title. And typos and grammar abound. I am sorry I did not have the energy to do a better job on this one. So please have at it, re-arrange etc. When folks are done organizing , please remove my note at the top of the page.MeeDee (talk) 04:30, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
There's still a notice at the top saying not to edit yet. Should it be removed?--aethel (talk) 11:32, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
This is a fine piece of work, MeeDee. All I did was the initial grunt work on this page, so my hat is off to you for all the support, assistance, and the hunt for comments. It was amazing amount of work to find all the commentary, and to get them into topical order, and I thank you.
I went through and did some standardization and added some wikilinks, some of whom could use some work to make Not Red. I also shoehorned those stray comments via FFA into other sections. There is one missing cite, which has a blank bracket at the beginning of it.
I'm going to remove the "do not edit" thing at the topic, as I think the first pass-through is done. Hopefully, others will add more to it, and edit it as needed. --MPH (talk) 13:01, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
PS. You can always write to people on the AO3 essay and ask them if we can quote.MeeDee (talk) 04:31, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

On a different note, I think the meta by Te that was linked here should have its own Fanlore page. 400 LJ comments!--aethel (talk) 03:35, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

That's a good idea. --MPH (talk) 11:57, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Someone on tumblr noted that placing the ffa irony section last implicitly discredits all the other fannish arguments and implies that Fanlore agrees with the meta. Is there anywhere else that section would fit better? [1]--aethel (talk) 22:09, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Move it farther up and tweak the description line? Combine it with something else? Or delete it entirely. As someone who did a lot of work pulling these quotes together, I can assure that its placement or inclusion was never intended to "discredit," but instead an attempt to gather many opinions and reactions. --MPH (talk) 22:20, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
Not to worry. I think one of the perils of PPOV is that somebody will always decide the person who wrote the article holds the opinion they disagree with. I read over that section and the section that immediately precedes it; I think the quote actually fits better at the beginning of "Futility of Badgering/Call Outs"? And we can just delete the "Irony" section header and FFA nonnies wondered if the irony of the Vagina Meta is lost on some fans: because that description only applies to a small part of the quote.--aethel (talk) 02:54, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
P.S. I went ahead and made the change but we can change it to something else if needed.--aethel (talk) 03:11, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

the old-school problematic LJ meta

So I actually found an example of the pre-RaceFail old-school LJ meta style of justifying why shipping the white cock pairing has nothing to do with racism. Not sure where to put it. White Cock? Race_and_Fandom#Personal_Preference?

Link them up to both places?

I wrote this very long and rambling comment about race and fanfiction.; archive link, molly-o (March 8, 2005) --MPH (talk) 03:05, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
