Talk:Worm

Should this be renamed to Worm (web novel) or just to Worm? There aren't any other works currently with the title Worm, so the disambiguation might not be strictly necessary. DivinerSpirit (talk) 04:46, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

I went with this title because it will be a pain to make changes later if there's e.g. a blockbuster film with that title that has nothing to do with the book, or there has been a fanzine or something, and I'm pretty sure it's been used as the name of at least one fictional character, though I can't remember exactly where I saw it.
I think the page should just be "Worm." We don't disambiguate things on Fanlore for hypothetical future pages. --MPH (talk) 12:09, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
OK - what's the procedure for changing it? --Marcus Rowland (talk) 12:15, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
I can do it. --MPH (talk) 14:38, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
Many thanks! --Marcus Rowland (talk) 16:34, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Origins of the Worm fandom

Spacebattles, obviously. But also I just learned that the official Wordpress site used to have a fanfic tab: archive.org backup. I'd like to put this in the article but too tired to figure out how right now. -- Quaelegit (talk) 04:25, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

Characters to Discuss on the page

So, on the one hand, the characters listed are mostly those that are important in the first 7 arcs of the story (out of 30; by wordcount we're talking about maybe the first 20% of it). In fact, there's a whole (awesome, IMO) story arc later about how the bullies have become profoundly insignificant both the to world and to Taylor, personally. And if you're hanging out on r/Parahumans or Parahumans tumblr you're going to see a lot more discussion of later-story focus capes and cape groups than people from Taylor's pre-cape life. However, I do get the impression that a lot of Worm *fic* focuses on Danny and the bullies, either because people are only familiar with the beginning of Worm, they like to write about high-school settings and struggles, or they're following stations of the canon. So I think the current character section is misleading, at least for a large segment of the worm fandom (and for canon itself, but on fanlore we're covering the fandom)... but I'm thinking this might be worth expanding into it's own page? Maybe a character list? I know we normally don't do those here b/c we want to discourage people from just listing canon info, but in this case I think it might be worth it to have a large place to discuss which groups of characters are popular with which segments of the fandom. Does anyone have thoughts on this? -- Quaelegit (talk) 01:14, 18 March 2023 (UTC)

Still "needs more fandom"?

I feel like it includes fandom content fairly well. The intro part supplying canon information might be a bit long and could perhaps be condensed a bit more, but I don't think it's prohibitively excessive either. The better part of the article is dedicated to fandom information, fanworks, etc. I think articles like this do need to supply enough canon information to set context, more so than articles on mainstream works. The tag was added more than 2 years ago. [1] --Potpotkettle (talk) 07:18, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
