Okay, I realize this is confusing, but WEBTOON (all caps) seems to be the branding that Naver uses for its webtoon hosting site. they claim to have coined the term webtoon but others contest that. Anyways, you also see people using 'webtoon' to refer to verticle-scroll comics posted in this format on other websites (sometimes with stipulations about art style as well). It's become genericized, like Kleenex. We should probably disambiguate and have two pages, one for Naver's website and one for the medium. Is this correct? Should I go ahead and split the pages? -- Quaelegit (talk) 22:14, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for diving into it! I'm absolutely in favour of splitting if that would make things clearer Distracteddaydreamer (talk) 18:01, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- Came here also to say this; I have read webtoons on websites like Lezhin Comics, not just the website named WEBTOON. Wikipedia says it refers to the broader genre of South Korean digital comic. I'm not sure about the page-splitting process but I would happy to write the page on the webtoon medium/genre! Sparrow (talk) 06:56, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
