Talk:Single Parent
would it be correct to say that in single parent fic, the character already has the kid and has been single for a while at the start of the story?--aethel (talk) 18:30, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- I thought that was just regular kidfic. Most kidfic I read has a single parents who meets and falls in love with the other half of the pairing. Sometimes they are both single parents. Is "Single Parent" actually a separate trope?? --Doro (talk) 19:32, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- I think kidfic might be the overarching trope? It could include an established relationship pairing getting a kid. I don't think fic is labeled as "Single Parent" fic, but that single parents are a frequent element in kidfic. But the Single Parent page was written broadly to cover canon single parents in fic, which are not kidfics. Also, I've read a bunch of RPF where a baby shows up on a rock star's doorstep, and the character happens to be single at the time, but I wouldn't call it single parent fic since the love interest shows up immediately.--aethel (talk) 19:50, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
