change pov

I'm skeptical of the idea that fandom "as a whole" does anything (including agree the sky is blue). I've changed it to "Most fan communities," which I hope still makes it clear that sock-puppetry is widely frowned on. --Penknife 20:06, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Name change to just "Pseudonym"

I've received an off-wiki email requesting that this be changed to just Pseudonym as pseuds were in use long before fans got online. Is there any thought one way or another about changing the name? --rache 00:32, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

I tend to favour changing it just because I have never heard anyone talk about their "online pseud" but lots of people talking about their pseud. --Betty 00:39, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Okay, there being no objections, I am moving the page tomorrow. --rache 04:29, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Pseudonymity link?

coffeeandink recently posted a list of reasons why someone might choose to be pseudonymous online. It's not a purely fannish post or list, but I think it speaks to some of the reasons why some fans might choose to be pseudonymous. Does that seem like an appropriate thing to cite here? Seems relevant to me! --Betty 18:16, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

A word for pseuds

Is there a word to describe pseuds that are obvious "play on words"? The Tumblr-type of pseuds that are fanciful, or strings of words? [bucketoffun, fallsfrompluto, bitemeeveryone]? And is there a name for pseuds that show a fan's allegiance to a fan or character in an obvious way? [Mrs. Fox Mulder, Yoda Forever, xxxxILoveBuffyxxx]? --MPH (talk) 14:02, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

origin and meaning of pseudonyms

I found an old post by ivyblossom about the origins of some pseudonyms. If anyone knows where to add it to the article I would be grateful. Fandom Names - ivyblossom -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 03:21, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
