Talk:Open Letter to K/S Fandom by David Gerrold
"Aggressive individuals"
The description of aggressive "fans" who offended and alienated so many people involved with the show sounds irresistably like Marshak and Culbreath. I know they're generally not seen as slash proponents, although they are acknowledged by some reviewers to have written some of the slashiest subtext in fan works of that period. --KTJ 09:41, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- It think you're correct on both of those things. I find all sorts of veiled, and less subtle, remarks by slash (and other) fans regarding M and C and how they influenced things. --Mrs. Potato Head 12:00, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- I have attended very few conventions in my life, but one I shall ne'er forget was a Star Trek convention in '76 right after New Voyages came out. There was this one panel with editors on it... Phsheew. If they'd been there they'd have had to wear asbestos environmental suits. --KTJ 04:05, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
BOTWs ahoy!
"Besides, I thought ST was a voyage through outer space, or an exploration of the human soul, not a trip through the bedroom. Let's get back to the sixties ethics for Star Trek's sake!"
Yeah.... the 60s ethics of Capt. Kirk with all those gorgeous women! I mean... Like it says in Star Trek Lives!, "Star Trek was a startlingly sexy show... sexy in theme, sexy in content." --KTJ (talk)

- Yes. Yes. YES/NO. How to incorporate this link? --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 01:50, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Perhaps: "Some xx years later, Gerrold's views on K/S have not changed even though the genre, and homosexuality in general, has gained wider acceptance in fannish circles.[1]
- FYI, ONTD noticed, too: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/80972831.html
- OK, I threw it on the page.--æþel (talk) 02:27, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
