Talk:Interstat/Issues 001-010
I took off the list of full names of the LoCers on issue #6. I don't include last names on Letters of Comment. (In fact, without specific permission, I don't even include first names in letterzines, simply referring to a writer as "a fan.") I am including, however, first name and last initial for Interstat's LoCers because it is too difficult to keep track, in even a rudimentary way, of their back-and-forth comments without a key. It is important to note that this publication had a massive circulation; those who wrote into it were essentially letting all of Star Trek fandom know their opinions, and this letterzine's contributors also knew (and hoped) that TPTB read their opinions, as it was one of the hallmarks of this zine. In other words, Interstat was a very public comment-arena and expectations were different for this letterzine than for others. --Mrs. Potato Head (talk) 19:25, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- I will add that I spoke to the letterzine publisher and she confirmed your assessment that Interstat had over 1000 subscribers worldwide (and an even wider readership as fans would pool funds to share a subscription). It was very much the public forum for Star Trek fandom, rivaled only by the Usenet when it finally arrived. She also gave Fanlore permission to quote from the letterzine.--MeeDee (talk) 23:46, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
