timeline of a larrie theory
I found a citation in Spanish that seems to disprove this sentence: While this was not originally the case, Larries in the 2020s are told that speculation around Harry and Nick's potential romantic relationship was a PR stunt designed to distract from Larry. The citation I found is from 2013, so apparently this was always a larrie belief? Or perhaps it became more popular in the 2020s? I looked at an English larrie blog and found there was some gossip/speculation about whether Nick and Harry were still friends, whether Nick's new boyfriend had anything to do with it, Nick's autobiography not including Harry, etc. So maybe the surfacing of this theory is just a resurfacing because people are talking about Harry and Nick and not because it's actually a new theory?[1] Here's a post from 2017 where twopoppies says "1DHQ set him up as a womanizer and The Sun wrote articles about him dating everyone and their mother (literally) and his team let rumors fly around about him and Nick." Yes, you are correct that the theory existed much earlier - I'm actually not sure though why I even phrased it in this specific way because the theorization about Nick is really platform dependent. A lot of twitter Larries are shielded from the knowledge that Nick is even gay, leading to regular (very humorous) realizations of this. fact[3][4] Most of the theorizing that Nick is a 'stunt' can be sourced to Tumblr, and I assume it is original tumblr larrie nonsense. - Oh wow! That is an interesting wrinkle.--aethel (talk) 05:43, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, Larries' way of coping with Harry's large group of queer friends, coworkers, and acquaintances is. . .interesting. To my understanding, Nick is portrayed as an evil ex boyfriend in many (particularly non-English) Larry fanworks.[5][6][7] But their media diet is so insular and Larry-focused that I guess they don't know this has any relation to reality? Larries on Twitter also frequently find out that two of Harry's 3 managers are gay, which makes them very confused and stressed when they try to parse why his management would not "allow" Harry to date Louis publicly.[8][9] Larries on Twitter often believe that Jeff Azoff is Harry's only manager, and they lean hard into antisemitism about it.[10][11] Anyway, just a tangent, all very weird stuff.
