Talk:Faith (Buffyverse)

I watched every episode and not once the name "Lehane" was mentioned and my first thought was that this must be different character with the same first name because I've never seen the name "Lehane" in a Buffyverse context. I would say once the canon is closed, it's not actually canon, no matter what the creator originally thought about it. Therefore I suggest disambiguating it as Faith (Buffyverse) instead (like Spike (Buffyverse), Connor (Buffyverse), etc.). --Doro (talk) 15:49, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

I wondered about that, but the inbound links existing were either "Faith" or "Faith Lehane", so decided to go for this as an easier-to-type compromise. I left Buffy fandom a while back, and have been surprised, bimbling round researching this, how much the Lehane surname has been taken up by newer fans. I don't think canon was exactly closed when Whedon made it up, as the Season 8 pro-comics date from later. Espresso Addict (talk) 15:57, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Discussions of what is and isn't canon are always tricky (Are the Star Wars books canon? Is Dumbledore's sexuality canon?) and I would rather avoid that. However, making a minority version of "canon" the official version when almost every single page referring to this character on Fanlore only refers to TV canon is confusing at best and disgruntling at worst. Also, there is the issue that every time someone wikilinks the name Faith on a BtVS page the link goes to a minor K/S zine story. I think that makes disambiguation necessary. Also, we could link Religion on a disambiguation page as a "see also" ("Faith" is mentioned as a synonym in the infobox on the Religion page). --Doro (talk) 18:06, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
