Little Black Dress

I'm sure not I agree with classifying Dany as a "Little Black Dress" character, I don't think she gets paired with near as many characters as lets say Sansa, like Sansa has been paired with almost every minor character she ever interacted with and dozens of others of whom she never met canonically, plus oodles of crossover pairings. Where as Dany mostly gets paired with her canonically or semi-canonical love interests, like Jon/Dany and Jorah/Dany, or others characters she has interacted with closely like Yara/Dany. I could be wrong about this, but this is how I read it as a GOT fan that has read quite a lot of fic, too me Dany is not really a LBD character -- Kingstoken (talk) 10:12, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

Dany emerged as an LBD in later seasons of the show. Possibly because this is the point at which her story arc started to intersect with the main Westerosi plotline. There's over 300 ship tags for Dany on AO3. In addition to her canonical love interests (Drogo, Daario, Jon, Jorah), she gets paired with a diverse range of characters. Daenerys/Sansa is fairly common (478 fics on AO3). Daenerys/Arya is less common but still occurs (168 fics). She's shipped with the Lannister brothers - Tyrion more often than Jaime. She gets shipped with characters she's never met in canon, including Robb (162 fics), Aegon VI/Young Griff (138 fics), and Margaery (79 fics). There's also a surprising amount of crossover ships. There's 17 Daenerys/Harry Potter fics and seven Daenerys/Ben Solo fics. There's also apparently Daenerys/Geralt fics, Daenerys/Hiccup (of How to Train Your Dragon) fics, Daenerys/Cullen Rutherford fics. Extensive crossover shipping isn't something that's seen with most other GOT characters. Dany isn't as big of an LDB as Sansa, but I think she still definitely qualifies as one. There also seems to be a fannish tendency to view LBDs as a "There Can Only Be One" situation. I definitely think it's possible for there to be more than one LBD in a fandom. Especially when there's a notable divide between fans of two rival characters. Fans who strongly favour Dany generally don't treat Sansa as an LBD and vice versa.
