Does anyone know if this is the same dvs (aka [redacted], svendra, 01100100, dvswraatins on LJ, dvs on DW and on AO3) who was/is active in SGA (and various other fandoms)? I'd like to make a page for that fanwriter so it's easier for people to find their fic (now at the AO3), as various fanlore pages link to various versions of their fannish-writer identity, but I don't know if it should be merged into this DVS's page or if there should be a disambiguation page for them? --Sk 22:52, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

I'd drop the 'other" DVS a note (since you have access points for the names above) and ask. Most of the references on this DVS page date back to the 1990s. This may - or may not be - the same DVS. Since the other (possibly same) DVS is still active, going direct to the source should help. --Morgandawn 00:14, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Done, thanks! --Sk 00:24, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

attn gardeners - please delete this talk page

Per my email to the gardeners list re one of the identities I mentioned higher up on this page, please consider deleting this talk page. Thanks! --Sk 06:19, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

I think the names need to be redacted, rather than this page deleted, and that's something higher up than a gardener. --Mrs. Potato Head 12:23, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Name has been redacted.--æþel 02:55, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

turned DVS page into disambiguation page

Really hope I did it (sorta) right/didn't delete/transfer the wrong thing. --Sk 07:33, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

About that... If we need to rename a page, we move the whole page because otherwise the history is lost. If no one has ever edited the page, it doesn't matter all that much (except that the date of creation will be lost), but if the page has changed over time, it's important to keep that. When you want to move a page, the process is to add a gardener's notice so that a gardener knows that there is something that needs to be done. Also, I think DVS (Slash writer) doesn't really work as disambiguation because they are *both* slash writers. :/ ETA: Also, turning DVS into a disambiguation page isn't really necessary here because the other page isn't named DVS, so there aren't two pages competing for the same page name. The solution in such a case would be to add a disambiguation line to both pages at the top. (On the DVS page it could say "You may be looking for d, ..." on the d page it could say "You may be looking for DVS, ...") --Doro 09:31, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, this was based in part on an email thread with the gardeners/admins -- Morgandawn and Aethel said that a DVS disambiguation page sounded like a good idea (related to the writer D being somewhat known as lowercase dvs but preferring to be known as D and due to identity concerns not as some of their other pseuds). On me making the old DVS page the disambiguation page, I wasn't quite sure, but the information on "Changing an existing page into a redirect" at the Help:Redirects page seemed to indicate that might be one way of doing it? (Also as the old DVS page had had only minor edits since creation.) And oops, looking at the email thread again, the new DVS (slash writer) page maybe should have been named DVS (fic writer active since the 1990s) or similar instead; I'll put that in its talk page. Anyhow, thanks for the comment/heads-up -- and if I run into something similar again I'll know to mark the whole kit and caboodle for gardeners rather than trying to wade in myself. :) --Sk 20:08, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
