Talk:ChengXian

Although being commonly accepted in Chinese fanspaces, ChengXian shippers continue facing backlash for allegedly "pro-shipping" and "allowing or being open to the thought of incest." Is "in English fanspaces" missing from this sentence? If they are commonly accepted in Chinese fanspaces, then they wouldn't be facing backlash in Chinese fandom. Also "pro-shipping" is an English language term and phenomenon, which makes me think it must be an English fandom thing, but then Weibo is brought up as an example in the next sentence, so I'm finding this whole section very confusing. Are fans on Weibo condemning chengxian shipping?--aethel (talk) 03:25, 2 April 2022 (UTC)

I’ve been reading a bunch of MDZS fic recently (not me discovering this in 2022 lol) so trying to do a little “refreshing” of some of the pairing pages, especially Jiang Cheng-centric ones because I love the angry grape. I’m seeing the same confusion you noted, i.e. that my understanding (as an English-speaking fan) is that there’s less backlash in Chinese fandom regarding ChengXian, so a) I think ‘English fanspaces’ is missing and b) I don’t know why Weibo would be used as an example. It looks like Zhancafe developed that paragraph for the page, so I’m not sure if it was a typo or if there was something on their mind. I’m going to do a little rearranging of that paragraph to try making the Chinese or English fanspaces a little more distinct without really adding too much editorializing either way since I read more than hang out in fanspaces.
