Talk:Boy Band

I have to be obstinate here and insist that Hanson don't belong in this category. They've somewhat jokingly said the terms fit them better than others, since they were actually "boys" not "men" when they came out, but they don't dance and have always written and played their own songs, so they don't fit the typical definition of boy band in that way. I'm sure others will think I'm being too picky about this, but most in the Hanson fandom share my feeling that they aren't a true boy band. -- Themayqueen (talk) 21:31, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- My suggestion is to add what you just wrote above next to their inclusion on this page as part of the PPOV policy. You can lead with something like..."Some fans include Hanson in the Boy Band category. Others disagree because....."--MeeDee (talk) 01:09, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- Will do! I'll have to figure out how to word it so that it doesn't just sound like that one indie snob fan being obstinate, of course, since some fans and even Hanson themselves don't totally object to the label. -- Themayqueen (talk) 18:51, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- I paraphrased you--feel free to edit. If this is a big meta topic in the fandom, you might also want to elaborate on the classification of Hanson on the Hanson page.--æþel (talk) 00:07, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you! I will look for some public meta on the subject. I'm sure I can find a quote from the band themselves, but I think a(nother) fan's opinion is what the page needs? -- Themayqueen (talk) 02:14, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
