Talk:An Algorithm for Mistakes
Editing Intro

- the 2014 stat in the intro reads oddly to me, because why specify that this was among the most kudosed/bookmarked Stydia fics in 2014 specifically? It also has some caveats in the reference that undermine that title a bit, so I'm inclined to think we could take it out, but didn't want to do that without other opinions.
They're talking about this sentence - "On 27 August 2014, An Algorithm for Mistakes was the most popular Lydia/Stiles fic on the AO3 by kudos and bookmarks". This isn't accurate as the note suggests it was the sixth most kudosed and bookmarked fic.
I'd suggest replacing that sentence with something like, "An Algorithm for Mistakes was one of the most kudosed and bookmarked Lydia/Stiles fics on AO3." I think that statement is true, because it is still on the first page when you sort by kudos and bookmarks. I'd also keep the citation and edit it slightly to become a note - because I know where the editor is coming from. We could also expand the intro/note to say its currently 5th most bookmarked and 12th most kudosed Stiles/Lydia fic. Thoughts? --Auntags (talk) 15:57, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
- I’m glad you pulled this from the Featured Articles page, because I’m here to work on the suggested tweaks and this made it easier/clearer to find this! I agree with you that we can simply say “It’s one of the most…” - because yes, I get the same order as you do when I sort by bookmarks/kudos today, plus I also notice it’s on the first page when I sort by Comments too. I personally am disinclined to specify the number (5th most bookmarked/12th most kudosed etc), because if we simply say it’s in the top 20, it’ll hopefully be true for longer. Making those edits.
