Talk:Almost Foolproof Press
Re the names: I'm not sure they need to be redacted. Ann, at least, has fanfic up at 852 Prospect under her full name. And the Waybacked site linked on the page, from 2005, lists Dar's name in full in various author listings. I'm not averse to using shorter versions - they were as well known as Ann T and Dar, afaik - but I think it's okay to use the full names too. --Arduinna 06:25, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Ahhh, I had thought that if the fans were using their real names pre-1995 we were not supposed to refer to them by their full names here even if the zines and other archives used the real names - especially if they, like Ann and Dar had concerns about privacy. But I'll leave this up to Fanlore to decide and implement. It is because Ann and Dar had been so vocal in the past that I highlighted this. I did not want Fanlore to run into a problem down the road.--Morgandawn 06:56, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, totally a good thing to bring up! But I think we're going with the idea that if the person was willing to have their name online and hasn't specifically attempted to erase their name from online, we're defaulting to "that's okay" until/unless the person goes to the wiki admins and asks to have it changed. So Dar I'm a little iffier on, since afaik she never posted online herself, but Ann was actively online for years under her real name, and still has fic archived that she hasn't tried to remove or change contact info for. --Arduinna 07:17, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- As Arduinna said, Ann has uploaded fanfiction to the net under her full name and it's still available like that, so using her full name here isn't outing her. I don't know about Dar. (I saw that you put the gardeners notice back up there. I had removed it because it was the only thing on the page using the full names and as such, I thought, it defeated the purpose of having the notice up there in the first place. YMMV)--Doro 23:34, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Right, so, what do I do? What is the case here? I'm a bit confused. I mean, if the people in question have concerns over privacy, alright. But on the other hand, if they are still using their full names on the internet, why should Fanlore be held to a higher standard than any other site...? Morgandawn, could you clarify? --lian 07:48, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- Since Ann's full name is still attached to her fic on an archive (uploaded by her, I presume), we don't have to worry about her. I'm less certain about Dar.--æthel 02:52, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- I've wandered away from this but just peeked back in and agree re Dar.--Morgandawn 05:37, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- I can try to tackle this, but what is the name that should be used for Dar? --Mrs. Potato Head 13:56, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

- Dar F (with a redirect for Darlene F. Ann T needs a Ann Teitelbaum page (with a redirect for any Ann T)?--Morgandawn 16:18, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I think I've done it. And the redirects, too. --Mrs. Potato Head 16:53, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
