"Soapbox Sadie" is a name given to characters who express strong moral convictions or concerns. This generally involves vocally pointing out injustice and iniquity, or denouncing bigotry such as racism, homophobia, and misogyny.
Such characters may be portrayed sympathetically within the narrative. They are sometimes used by creators as a means of integrating their sociopolitical views into the story and expressing them to the audience. In others cases, "Soapbox Sadies" are treated as tedious or self-righteous, often being presented as comic relief or foils.
