Sir Gawain is one of the most commonly occurring characters in Arthurian Legend and a popular character in the Arthuriana fandom. He is generally the oldest of the Orkney siblings and the nephew of King Arthur. In earlier stories, Gawain served as a paragon of chivalry; over time, portrayals of him became more mixed.
