Some Excerpts
Why did you choose your pen name?
My name is Kara. I use my real name instead of a pen name just because I really like my name, and I figured it was unusual enough to stand out, even among the pen names. And that way, I wouldn't have to change the name from genre to genre of fanfic. :)
When did you start writing fanfiction?
I started writing fanfiction when I was seven years old. It was a still unfinished novel about My Little Ponies, and I even wrote Hasbro a letter asking for copyright to publish the novel. They never responded to my letter.
Would you agree that fanfiction is a genre dominated by women, and if so, why do you think it's so?
I do agree that fanfiction is a genre dominated by women, but I'm not sure why. I've known only a few male fanfiction writers, and several of them have been incredible writers. Maybe it's because men don't want to admit they waste their time on writing about someone else's world? If anyone knows the answer, I'd love to find out.
This is a site devoted to antagonists. Could you reveal us your favourite Mr. Bad Guy?
I have a weakness for Darth Vader. I love the angst of his life. I love the fact that this great, powerful man fell because he loved too much, and yet was able to be redeemed in the end. There's something about the power of darkness.
