Shizuka Joestar (静・ジョースター Shizuka Jōsutā) or the Achtung Baby, named after a studio album by the band U2, is a minor character in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4, Diamond Is Unbreakable.

Introduced in the "We Picked Up Something Crazy!" story arc, Shizuka is a baby found on the side of a road in Morioh by Joseph Joestar, who subsequently adopts her. She is a Stand user who can turn invisible when distressed, with her Achtung Baby.

For unexplained reasons, Shizuka was a baby lost in Morioh, probably because of her Stand power Achtung Baby, which can turn herself and her close surroundings invisible.

For the rest of DIU, Shizuka remains mostly carried by Joseph, who had adopted her into his family despite risking the wrath of his wife Suzi Q suspecting her to be another illegitimate child of his. Her real parents were never found.[1]

Canon background

She is first introduced in Chapter 315 Picked up something bad, and Episode 13 We picked up something bad. In the episode Josuke and Joseph find her and realize she is a stand user who has the ability to turn invisible, as well as the things around her, such as her baby stroller and the ground. Joseph puts baby clothes, sunglasses and makeup on her to make her visible.

Like her adoptive brother, Higashitaka Josuke, the kanji of Shizuka can be read with the alternate pronunciation "Jo", and thus Shizuka Joestar fits within the Joestar lineage's JoJo naming convention.

Fanon and tropes

Blank slate Some fans have wished that Shizuka would be the JoJo protagonist of her own Part, especially those who wish to see another story set within the original continuity rather than one following the new continuity started by Steel Ball Run. However, Araki has officially stated that she would not reappear outside of Diamond Is Unbreakable.[2]

Fans have speculated that, upon Joseph bringing Shizuka home to New York, Suzie Q would be angered under the assumption that Joseph had cheated and fathered another illegitimate child. Many headcanon that Suzie Q would ultimately calm down and become a loving mother to Shizuka.

JJBA fans often wish that characters from one Part would appear in others, especially for the sake of the Joestars having a "family reunion". Regarding Shizuka specifically, fanworks often portray her as the protagonist of a new Part (specifically, a Part 7 continuing Parts 1-6 rather than the new continuity begun by Steel Ball Run), crossing paths with all the living members of her branching family, frequently in the context of an international adventure.
