Ship's Archivist was a Harry Potter fansite hosted on GeoCities that collected links to fanfiction hosted on Fanfiction.Net and FictionAlley. It was described by the archivist as: Loads of links for all your shipperfic needs! Sorted by ship. NO SHITE. NO CLUTTER. ALL FIC. The site is documented here as part of the OTW's GeoCities Rescue Project.
Ship's Archivist reflects the naval metaphor for character relationships that was popular in HP fandom.
Site Contents
The site was divided into two main sections, one for hetfic and one for slashfic. The het index had links to pairing-specific pages for Lily/James, Ginny/Harry, and Hermione/Draco, as well as inactive links to pages that had not yet been added to the site (Ginny/Draco, Ginny/Tom, Hermione/Ron, and Hermione/Harry). The slash index had a similar set-up: an active link to Sirius/Remus and inactive links to Remus/Severus, Harry/Draco, and "Lesser Ships."
In sum, the site contained links to 134 Lily/James stories, 41 Ginny/Harry stories, 53 Hermione/Draco, and 104 Sirius/Remus stories.
Lily/James stories were further divided into the categories "Classic Love," "Love/Hate," "Trouble in Paradise," "Songfic & Misc.," "Featuring James," and "Featuring Lily." Ginny/Harry stories were divided into "Classic Love," "Longing," "Songfic & Misc.' Hermione/Draco stories were categorized as either "Forbidden Love" or "Songfic & Misc."
