introduction by this custom zine's compiler

It was compiled by a fan with Peter's knowledge and permission.

Some characters that appear are Kirk, Spock, Chekov, Christine Chapel, Sulu, Scotty, Uhura, Kevin Riley, Janice Rand, Sarek, M'Benga, Matt Decker, Charlie (from "Charlie X"), Stonn, T'Pring, The Romulan Commander, a Gorn, Ruk (from "What Are Little Girls Made Of"), other canon characters, as well as many original characters.

These stories are related to/part of The Tsytsean Chronicles. The pairings are Kirk/Spock, Kirk/Other, Spock/Other, as well as many original character pairings.

"Tsytsea" is the name given by Peters to The Romulan Commander from the episode "The Enterprise Incident."

"AMX" stands for "Alternate Mirror X." All of the stories are sexually explicit, many are violent, and there is much rape, slavery, and forced breeding.

These stories are only a very small part of the fanworks in this universe; as of very early 1977, there were 60 stories totaling over 1600 pages. By 1980, there were certainly many more.

Introduction by Peters

ALTERNATE MIRROR X STORIES by Jean Peters:

These stories take place in a universe that is ruled by the Vegan Conspiracy; all the Federation Planets have been enslaved, including Vulcan and Earth. Kirk and Spock showed exceptional bravery under the Vegan Trials of Courage that their prisoners are subjected to, and were granted Vegan citizenship, along with the crew of the E. They operate under the command of the Vegans, with piracy, blackmail of some of the planets, gathering tribute and other unsavory activities their daily occupation. Kirk has turned out to be the Vegan’s Number One Commander, and they have great confidence in him.

In the story previous (Mirror Amok) Stonn has bought what remains of T’Pring after Spock’s rough treatment, with 30 years of bonded servitude, and is Spock’s prime henchman.

"Tsytsea" is the name of the Romulan Commander encountered in Alternate Mirror Incident, and she is the widow of Desai, who was the Commander of the destroyed Romulan ship in "Balance of Terror", a dead ringer for Spock’s father. Ambassador Sarek.

Tsytsea herself had asked for the meeting with the Enterprise, as she was the secret head of a revolutionary movement, and hoped to capture the E thru defection of the Vulcan science officer.

Introduction by the Compiler

"Preliminary to SENTER [sic] REPORT:

There are a number of other stories (which I have), elements of which are referred to in the new novel, alas, like Jean always does, and it only becomes necessary to explain when someone new reads them. For instance, the Vegans have conquered the known and civilized universe, but Earth ransomed itself and its citizens. Vulcan is still a slave planet, but Sarek by demonstrating his usefulness has managed to buy himself free. Spock had been sent to a slave farm as a breeder, and there is a story called "The Breed" about his acting as stud to slave women who are confined in a carousel, heads down towards the center, and he is presented with each rosy bottom in turn to inseminate during his working hours. He always knows whether or not it "took"' and elaborate records are kept to insure that each woman has the required number of turns to insure pregnancy. Sarek buys him out of slavery and buys a commission for him on Pike's ship, where he meets Kirk for the first time--before Kirk assassinates the Captain. There are several stories called Detention" (Pike's killing), "Mirror Amok," and I forget what else that sort of provide background before the K*S* stories begin. The first three of these (included here) provide Jean's early efforts at K*S*, leading to their bonding and after, during the capture and prisoning of Tsytsea, the Romulan Commander, and while Marlena still tries to hang on as Captain's Woman. I have a story of Spock going to see his and Tsytsea's child, too, somewhere. Anyway, The Senter [sic] Report takes place after Tsytsea has been released, and is divided into three segments mainly for the convenience of binding, as far as I could see--I took them out of their folders for mailing purposes. Spock's and Kirk's relationship more or less parallels that of Alexander the Great and Hephaistian in Mary Renault's second book, I think-- with a strong undergirding of their basic relationship--only consummated when necessary these days--when Spock comes into pon farr. Meanwhile, Spock appears to have sort of an adversary relationship with Kirk, and we are given no reason to feel he is jealous of all of Kirk's sexual adventures. Indeed, he seems concerned that Kirk might not be willing to "uphold the honor of the Enterprise" in the Veils that night.

Jean has promised me a new ending--I hate the present one, and it does not knit up any of the plot strands at all, rather feels like she just ran out of paper. Says she has 10 variations on it already--goody! So read, enjoy, and discuss endlessly with both Jean and me--I realize that to a new reader all these are not going to knit together exactly smoothly, but I think it would be worthwhile if she were to make them do so, and make along novel out of the whole thing.

Note: Desai (the Rommulan Commander of "Balance of Terror") seems to be back in the Tantalus Field in SENTER [sic]--where he was sent the first time by this Kirk, then released temporarily during the first four K*S* stories. He is Tsytsea’s husband.

Amanda is still a slave somewhere in the Vegan Empire, which accounts for the strained relationship between Spock and Sarek. There is something weird that I never quite understood, in one story, about Tsytsea becoming Sarek's second wife, too.
