Disclaimer

From the zine:

©H.E.M.P. (Highly Erotic Males Press), 2000. The characters of Jim Ellison, Blair Sandburg, Simon Banks, Rafe, Taggert, Brown, et.al., all belong to Pet Fly and some other corporation we're not sure of, people with money, power, and lawyers. No one made a profit from this zine. We're all still impoverished and living on macaroni and cheese. Please don't reproduce this zine or any of the art or stories contained herein (we like the word "herein"; makes us sound eduk-edjuc-edyoo ... like we know what we're talking about).

From the Submission Request

H.E.M.P. is at it again, and this time, we're really going all out! You thought we were crazy doing an all-preggers zine, well *this* time, we're doing an all-comedy zine. That's right, comedy to be had by all, to be called "Senses of Humor". <Cute, huh?> Put Blair and Jim in humorous situations or parody them with your favorite TV show or movie (just be certain to tell us what TV show/movie so we can include it in with the story summary; hey, we watch a lot, but we don't watch everything!). And just because it's been done before doesn't mean it can't be done better and with different results.

The guidelines are:

1. No females! The stories must focus on Jim and Blair as a couple. Remember, this is a slash zine! You can use female characters as secondary characters or as the butt of jokes. Oh, and stories can be rated G to XXX - go for it!

From the Editorial

Welcome to our second slash zine! We hope you like comedy, because we've got some funny stuff. It's been along time in the making ... well, more like a few months, but hell, it sometimes seems like forever. Call us silly, call us amusing, just don’t call us sane, because we readily admit it, we're not.

We scoured cons, the internet, we begged and groveled authors and artists from all over the world and now we have put together the definitive Sentinel comedy zine. We're nothing if not groundbreakers, just look at our first zine, Pregnant Pauses. (Now if that isn't breaking new ground, I don't know what is!)

Reactions and Reviews

Okay, before I forget, yes, I do forget things. Hee hee. I wanted to say how nice the cover is. It's a beautiful collage done by Barbara Nice-Miller. Aka, Agt. Spooky. It has six wonderfully sweet, funny and just warm feeling photos on it. It shows just how much these guys mean to each other. I loved it. Good job, Barb.

Grand Central Station by Stormy Let me just put one little part from the story and you'll get a feel for it:

Well, it had me roaring first thing. It's kind of an odd story, but cute. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say I think it takes a couple of reads to really appreciate it.

The Sentinel By Barry Manilow by Jane Mailander and Debra Fran Baker This was a riotous poem sung to the tune of Coba Cabana. I walked around singing this for days and my hubby never quite recovered. I have these girls to thank for that. I laughed and laughed and read it like four times before I moved on to the next story. Thanks, girls. This was great.

Closer To Guide by Jane Mailander Another song parody. This wasn't as much fun as the first one, but still very funny. I'm still laughing about that first one. Geeze. I think I'm warped. You've corrupted me.

The Sentinel by Jane Mailander Another song parody and this was really great. I loved this one. If you like song parodies this is the place to be. Moreover, Jane is the woman to read.

William Shakespeare Presents: The Sentinel Parody by Texas Ranger ROFLMAAOPIMP Well as always, Tex left me rolling on the floor. It's damn hard to type while lying down there too. I'm still checking into the seatbelts for the computer Chairs Tex. This story has me laughing so hard that I had tears rolling down my cheeks. I was disturbing my hubby's television watching. Geeze, what could I do? I had to read it; once I started, I couldn't put it down. Besides, I think that laughter is the best medicine.

Blair Vs the Volcano by Jane Mailander As the usual, you are so caught up in the tall tale you don't even think about it as a comedy. To me it was more of a love story. Do you suppose there is anything Jane writes that I don't like? I don't think so.

The Sentinel Test by Gena Fisher Gena can spin a tale like no one else. This is the best fairy tale from the Sentinel I've ever read. Gena, when you mentioned Jim and his sword I almost swallowed my tongue. Blair has to find a true Sentinel and I was roaring during the whole thing. I loved it. You go, girl.

Prince Blair looking for a Sentinel to save the city is just too fun. A definite good read. An easy read and a fun read. Okay, just read it.

In the words of Sir Robert Palmer, simply irresistible. ROFLMAO I laughed from the beginning to the end of this. It was a hell-of-a-read.

I love when humor and our guys and fairy tales are put together. I'll not give away anymore than that.

A Fowl Tale by P.J. At the beginning, the description of the difference between Hallucinations and a nervous breakdown made me fall out of my chair.

The flying pig story is such a riot. In addition, the City of Hell is snowed in. Geeze, it used all the time, but still so damn funny. Did the sky fall in?

This was a very cute, funny and fast read.

You've Got Male by Deana C. Jamroz As I'm reading this I'm spitting my water across the tablet that I'm taking notes on. This is a very good sign. Deana has a way of making me laugh like crazy. Getting his dick stuck in the steering wheel? I'm still laughing about that one. I'm close to dying I think.

Blair's thoughts about how to finally seduce Jim are a riot. We even get to hear a Blair prayer. This, by the way, had me howling. I have to mention again that my hubby really hated this zine because I kept interfering with his television watching.

There is mention of dating Nancy Regan. Soon someone will have to help me breathe! I'm laughing soooooo hard.

I don't want to say anymore and give this story away. However, I can say this. It's hot. It's sexy. It's fun and did I say hot? Read it, now.

Mating Ritual by Alyjude Aly says we have K9 to thank for the last half of Mating Ritual- Lesson #1. Mating Ritual-Lesson #1: Flirting I love it. Poor Jim and Blair. They are just so clueless. They missed that damn bus again. Lesson # 2: The Date They're getting it and are so damned cute. I'm just smiling during this entire part. I love when Blair takes control and Jim is trying so hard to be in charge. Again, Jim is clueless. Lesson #3: The Good Night Kiss Talk about 1st, 2nd and 3rd base. This is cracking me up big time. Reading what they are going through is just too much fun. There should be a law against having this damn much fun. Lesson: #4: Sliding for Home What can I say? Aly can write the hottest sex on paper. Yet, make it fun too. How does she do that?

Lesson #5: The Morning After Morning after is beyond sweet and cute. Jim is such a slut. Nevertheless, he's Blair's slut. I love happy endings and this whole story made me feel happy. Thanks to everyone that made my day by writing all of these stories. They were great. [1]
