Scully/Krycek is a non-canonical, het fan fiction pairing in The X-Files fandom. The character of Krycek was introduced in 1994 for a story arc that was set up to explain the short disappearance of Dana Scully, since Scully actress Gillian Anderson became pregnant in the same year and had to miss one episode in order to give birth to her daughter.

The two characters meet the first time in the episode Sleepless in October 1994 where Scully learns that after the X-Files division has been shot down and she and Mulder were reassigned, Krycek became Mulder's new partner.

On October 14, 1996, "Lost", the first Scully/Krycek romance fanfic, was posted to ATXC.

In November 1996, Krycek and Scully had their first substantial scene together in the episode Tunguska.[1]

On the show, Scully and Krycek rarely interacted with each other, the only exception being the first part of the two-part season 8 finale where Mulder entrusts Krycek Scully's life and safety (and that of her unborn son).

Fans of the pairing may call themselves "Skipper" from Scully/Krycek + shipper.

Fan Comments

[The first] Krycek/Scully romance (I guess those stories are more popular now than four years ago, but someone had to break the ice even then) : The earliest one I've encountered is "Lacuna" by Tara Thorne from June 1997. Jessica Taylor's "Lost" was archived in Dec. 1997, but I know it predates that, because it inspired my story "The Secret Life of Dana Scully" which I posted in July 1997. And Mare ZX maintains she had her WIP planned much earlier than any of these stories.

My Scully/Krycek WIP, Wicked Game, was begun in July 1996. I guess the fact that it's still not finished disqualifies it as a groundbreaker of any kind, but at least the idea was out there that early on. Also, the fact that there wasn't any *other* SKipper fic out there at the time may be why it sat untouched for over a year, and is only now moving (at a glacial pace, thanks to my bosses <g>) toward completion.
Hell, it was dangerous just to be a Krycek fan back then. Pairing him with Scully? I'm too much of a wuss to have been the one to publicly break that ground <g> Mare, Krychick from way, way back[2]
