Sbubby is an internet meme that involves editing the text of a logo into another word or phrase. Logos edited in such a manner are referred to as sbubbies. The replacement text is often a humorous word or phrase, nonsense gibberish, or the text of another logo. Sbubbies may also involve editing the imagery of a logo to further connect to the replacement text. The name of the meme derives from the image of an edited Subway logo that reads 'sbubby'.
While sbubbies are not inherently fannish, members of different fandoms may create sbubbies that are fannish. This includes editing the logo for a given fandom, having replacement text reference fandom memes, or swapping the logo text of two different fandoms. The latter is sometimes used for fanart of crossovers and the cover art of mashups. Fanartists may also incorporate existing sbubbies into fanart.
Sbubbies are usually clean and replicate the visual style of the source logo as closely as possible, in contrast to memes such as Expand Dong that crudely edit and combine logos through cropping and basic copy-and-paste methods.
