Sandy S. is a fanfiction writer who began writing fanfiction in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom in 2002, writing mostly Buffy/Spike stories. She started with answering a challenge on Buffy and Spike Diaries run by Alea. She wrote several stories during the airing of season 7 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and season five of Angel the Series and was archived at fanfiction.net, Sinister Attraction run by Rachel, and Death-Marked Love run by Hils.
She ran a site called Eternal Devotion that featured her own fanfiction but also fanfiction by others and fanart by others in fandom. Her site was created by Thia and was originally hosted on Geocities before being hosted by Dark-Prophecies. When Dark-Prophecies shut down, she moved her site to a variety of other sites and free hosting before moving to her own domain sand-in-my-shoes.com that hosted other Buffy sites, including Spuffy writing by Tiana and the first rendition of Nocturnal Light, a Spuffy archive run by Yani. She and a fellow fanfiction writer, Zarrah, were on a fanfiction panel together at Dragoncon in 2003.
Sandy changed the name of her site to Tranquil Daydreams at some point during her moves. She stopped writing following Hurricane Katrina and Rita but picked back up with writing in Buffy fandom in 2015 when she and her husband were undergoing IVF out of state, and she started a rewatch of Buffy. She finished several works in progress that she left when she left fandom, including Setting Up House, Finding the Way Home, and Finding Spike.
She has written several Spuffy stories since her return to fandom in 2015, including A Small Boat on the Ocean, Taking Chances, and an Uncomplicated Christmas among many others. She was on the Sunnydale Fanfic Club podcast in 2018 for her story, "A Small Boat on the Ocean," about Spuffy starting a family via IVF. She has also written stories for the Which Willow ficathon since her return to fandom.
In 2022, Sandy joined Megan, Chelle, Dusty, and GillO in creating Sunnydale After Dark, a new Spuffy archive, in response to Megan being removed without warning from Elysian Field's admin team. Megan purchased the site and invited the rest of the group to join. Sandy remained admin there for the first year during which she created features for the site, such as site interviews for both the commenters and authors, thought of the idea of adding transcripts to the site, and added site links, to name a few things. She also worked to interview people involved in other aspects of fandom in the hope of spreading community across fandom. She also designed several layouts, banners, and awards. She left the site and fandom in 2023 because she was standing the way of site progress when she asked for communication and a chance to have a group consensus among admin members about major changes to the features of the site before changes were made.
