Sakusa Kiyoomi/Miya Atsumu is a pairing in the Haikyuu fandom.

Canon

Sakusa Kiyoomi and Miya Atsumu have both been top volleyball players since their youth, and both appear at the Winter National Youth Training Camp with Kageyama Tobio. After the timeskip, they appear as core players on the MSBY Black Jackals professional volleyball team and also feature together on the Japan National Team which attends the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Primary interactions between the two involve Atsumu referring to Sakusa as "Omi-Kun" and "Omi-Omi." Sakusa does not refer to Atsumu by any name. The two appear to have a teasing relationship full of banter and bickering, while simultaneously respecting each other as skilled players.

While the ship first attracted popularity primarily with readers of the Haikyuu manga, it has grown into one of the most popular pairings of the overall franchise and attracts both manga readers and anime-only fans.

History

This ship is notable for its sudden explosion of popularity, landing at number 47 on the list of ships with the greatest gain in total fanworks in the period Jan-Dec 2020.

As of May 2022, it is the sixth most popular Haikyuu pairing on AO3, with over 9,000 fanworks tagged with Miya Atsumu/Sakusa Kiyoomi. It was the fastest growing Haikyuu ship in 2021, with an average of 15.8 fics added per day, outpacing even the most popular Haikyuu pairing of IwaOi.

Common Tropes in Fanworks

Fanwork for this pairing tends to emphasize the "Opposites Attract" nature of the ship, as well as their rude mannerisms. For this reason, they are notorious for their Rivals to Lovers dynamic.

Canon Compliant and AU settings are both popular.
