The rude interruption, also known as being walked in on/walking in on someone, is a trope in both fanon and in canon. It involves a character interrupting or thwarting a moment of intimacy. This could involve two or more characters who were kissing or having sex, or a single character who was engaged in a solo sexual activity. The interruption is generally unintentional, although sometimes it is deliberate, and is usually played for comedic effect.
Examples
- Wynonna Earp from the TV show of the same name is well known in the fandom for her tendancy of interrupting Wayhaught during makeout sessions (and beyond), something that is reflected in fanworks: Interrupting Wynonna Earp is a common/canonised tag on Ao3.
