Rowena Ravenclaw is a character in the Harry Potter series.
Canon
Rowena is one of the four founders of Hogwarts and founded the house Ravenclaw. She valued intelligence, wisdom and a sharp mind.
Rowena owned a diadem said to enhance the wisdom of its wearer, which would, centuries later, become one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. Rowena's daughter, Helena Ravenclaw, was envious of Rowena and ran away with the diadem. Rowena kept her daughter's betrayed a secret until she fell fatally ill. She sent the Bloody Baron, who was in love with Helena, to look for her. When Helana refused to return with the Baron, he killed Helena and then himself. This means Rowena didn't get the chance to make up with her daughter before she died.
Fandom
Fanfiction with Rowena often revolves around time travel in which Harry Potter and/or other characters travel (accidentally or not) back in time and end up with the Hogwarts founders. Other stories are set in the Founders Era and are about her life at Hogwarts.

This is due because her daughter, Helena, has the same last name and the fact that Ravenclaw's house animal is an Eagle which you would think would be a Raven.
