Godric Gryffindor is a character in the Harry Potter series.
Canon Overview
Godric Gryffindor was one of the four founders of Hogwarts and founded the house of Gryffindor. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, the Sorting Hat introduces Gryffindor House as notable for “daring, nerve, and chivalry” and says it is “where dwell the brave at heart”.
Godric was born in Godric's Hollow in the 10th century. He was once a close friend to Salazar Slytherin, but that friendship ended when Salazar thought they should not accept Muggle-borns into Hogswarts. It is unclear when Godric died.
Fandom
Like the other founders, fan fiction with Godric Gryffindor is often set in the Founders Era. If the main Harry Potter characters interact with the Founders, it is usually by way of Time Travel.
