Ride or Die is a Supernatural podcast co-hosted by Pru and waldorph, running since June 2018. Each week, the hosts recount the events of an episode of the series and provide their thoughts and commentary.
Content
The majority of the podcast is dedicated to an episode-by-episode rewatch, in which the hosts describe an episode from beginning to end, providing commentary and thoughts throughout. The hosts also pretend they haven't seen the show before and have no knowledge of future plot points or characters beyond what has been covered on the podcast.
The podcast's structure mirrors that of the show, with breaks in the podcast between seasons of the show. At the end of each season of the show, the hosts do a wrap-up or "psychic" episode, in which they review the previous season as a whole and discuss elements with the benefit of future knowledge of the rest of the series. They also release at least one Q&A episode a season, where they answer questions about Supernatural and give real-life advice.
Although both Pru and waldorph are long-time members of transformative Supernatural fandom, they only occasionally allude to participating in fannish activities.[citation needed]
Recurring elements and running jokes
It's a running joke that watching Supernatural is a bad idea,[citation needed] and — playing on the idea that they have no knowledge of the rest of the show — that Supernatural is going to get cancelled at the end of the season they're currently watching. There are other recurring jokes and bits across the podcast — such as Pru headcanoning that Dean occasionally engaged in prostitution as a teenager ("sucked dick to buy Sam shoes"), or that waldorph has no sense of humour. The hosts also regularly point out and reflect on differences between the time of Supernatural's original production and the period of their rewatch, such as characters' fashion choices or off-colour jokes which were more acceptable when the show was airing than in the 2010s–20s.
Both Pru and waldorph are also Dean girls, preferring him over Sam, which is often discussed on the podcast.[1]
At the end of every episode, both hosts rec something for listeners to engage with instead of Supernatural, which varies from anime to movies to books and video games.
