Redux Arc is a X-Files fan fiction genre which features mytharc stories that take place between the shows' season 4 episode Zero Sum, the season 4 finale Gethsemane and season 5 episodes Redux II that deal with a seemingly identity crisis of Mulder and his attempts to save Scully's life who was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. Sometimes, the Redux-arc is included in the term Cancer Arc.
The term was probably first used in the usenet alt.tv.x-files mailing list discussion on February 8th 1999 by user BPO1975.[1]
In the show's canon the following episodes are considered as the Redux arc:
