Rec.arts.anime.misc was the major newsgroup for English-language anime discussions. It began as rec.arts.anime, and in the mid-90s to early 2000s saw several thousand posts a month.

Steve Pearl was a/the moderator of rec.arts.anime.misc from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. He created the group's "list of frequently asked questions."
