Raijin is a for-charity fanzine focused on the location Inazuma from Genshin Impact. A total of $491.65 AUD in proceeds from the zine sales were donated to the charity Medecins Sans Frontieres Australia[1].

About

The interest check for the project ran from June 30, 2021 to July 20, 2021[2], garnering 180+ responses[3]. Contributor applications ran from July 29, 2021 to August 26, 2021[4].

Preorders opened December 20, 2021[5] with a planned end date of January 20, 2022[6], which was later extended to February 28, 2022[7]. The following pricing tiers were available:

Zine Promotions

Three stretch goals were included in the project: an additional charm at 75 orders, a foil upgrade of the washi tape at 100 orders, and a notebook at 125 orders[9]. None of the stretch goals were reached.

As an early bird promotion, the first 50 physical bundle orders received a Gorou die-cut sticker[10]. As of February 21, 2022, 3 stickers still remained unclaimed for this promotion[11].

On February 27, 2022, for the final day of preorders, the discount code SHOGUN could be used to get 10% off any bundle besides the PDF[12].

Other

On October 9, 2021, prior to preorders, the zine Twitter account ran a poll asking people to pick between four Genshin characters[13]. Kazuha won, and on November 2, 2021, a Kazuha-themed manicure design was posted[14]. Similarly, another poll was run on November 13, 2021 with the winner being Gorou[15]. On November 27, 2021, pictures were posted of a Gorou-themed cake[16]. A third poll with Itto as the winner ran on January 21, 2022, during the zine's preorder period[17]. Afterwards, starting February 1, 2022, the Twitter account hosted a short Choose Your Own Adventure game with Twitter polls starring Itto[18].

The charity to which the zine profits would be contributed was announced on January 9, 2022 during preorders - Doctors Without Borders[19].

On May 7, 2022, it was announced that as the stamp washi tape hadn't met its minimum order quantity, it would be printed in stamp style on regular washi tape instead. It was also announced that the enamel pin would be made with 12 rather than 14 colors[20].

Leftover sales opened December 20, 2022[21] and were announced closed January 26, 2023, along with an announcement that most orders had been shipped[22].

The charitable contribution was announced on June 11, 2023, closing out the project.
