Questings is an Elfquest zine.

It was printed by Otter Limits Press for Liz Welsh of Great Water Holt, which was a branch of The Elfquest National Fan Club that had the permission of Richard and Wendy Pini.

It has a sister zine, a newsletter called Questings.

Issue 1

Questings 1 was published in May 1985 an contains 60 pages.

The art is by Terrie Smith, Mark Barnard, Jennifer Crosby, Alan Gillespie , April Lee, Linda McLachlan, Paulie, Dean Plantamura, Pam Spurlock, Diana Vick/Vixen, and Liz Welsh.

From the editorial:

Welcome to Great Water Holt'6 first big zine. Back in January, a big zine was just something "we really ought to do sometime"... then later that same month Paulie arrived for a visit, looked through the GWH story and art files....then looked at me and said, "Y'know, we've got the makings of a big zine here.” We put our heads together and before long she had me convinced. The zine you're holding in your hands is the result of the hard work that followed.

From the editorial:

Our stories range from the past to the present, and deal with a youngster's deep feelings, the rescue of a shipwrecked elf, a Recognition, the loss of a chieftain, a wager that went sour, a rescue that didn't quite end as planned, and an elf with a rather unusual sister. We have a bigger selection of poetry this time around, and a letter column.

QUESTINGS 3 is scheduled for May-June 1987... I'd like to take this space to say farewell as editor of Great Water Holt and to ask you to welcome Paulie as your new editor. Please show her the same friendship and support you've given me over the past years. I'll be staying somewhat active in GWH, so it won't be goodbye.

Cool breezes and full nets to you all!

Green Forests, Liz Welsh/Owlcaller

From the letter by Richard Pini:

What a wonderful thing rumors are. No, I mean it — they do brighten up my day. In Owlcaller's request to me for a few words to open up Great Water Holt's second bigzine (I don't think I've ever run across that term before, so I herewith coin it and let it loose into the world), she mentioned that she had heard a rumor that Wendy and I were getting/had gotten a divorce. You may have heard the "click" of eyebrows hitting the top of my forehead when I read that, and then I broke the news to Wendy. We exchanged condolences for a few moments and then went back to work.

The reason I say that rumors brighten up the day is that usually the allegations are wild and funny, as this one was. (Maybe not quite as funny -- or as impossible — as the one I heard that reported that we're pregnant up here, and expecting any day now, but close! As I've said before, find me at a convention and get me in the right frame of mind, and I can tell you things to curl your socks.) I mean, really! Now, it is true that Wendy has, of her own choice, gone off the convention travel route, and it is true that she's doing, of her own choice and with my good wishes, some work for other comics companies. But are these the sources for such dire consequences? I gotta wonder. But in the meantime we shake our heads and travel down the road.
