Prentis Hancock is known for his portrayal of Paul Morrow in Year One of Space: 1999 and several appearances in Doctor Who.

Hancock was raised and educated in Glasgow, studying architecture at college. He was a keen sportsman, playing rugby and becoming a fencing instructor.

He attended the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama.

Hancock was most interested in acting and directing, and joined an amateur theatrical company where he pursued his goals.

He was given roles in stage plays and television productions, including episodes of "Z Cars", "Dixon Of Dock Green", "Softly Softly", and "Dr Finley's Casebook" in the 1960s.

He had continuing roles in the BBC serials "The Last Of The Mohicans" (1971), "Spy Trap" (1972) and "Colditz" (1972-73). He also appeared in a two part episode of "The Protectors" (1973).

He has been a guest at numerous Space: 1999 conventions: 1979 and 1980 in the U.S., 1987 and 1990 in Britain, Los Angeles in 1999 and 2012, and 2014 in Britain. He also appeared at several Doctor Who events and in the AlphaCon Documentary (1991).

Space: 1999

Hancock was offered the role of Paul Morrow without auditioning, and was the fourth cast member (after Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, and Barry Morse) to be signed to Space: 1999. He appeared in 23 of 24 episodes in season one of the series. He did not appear in the episode "The Infernal Machine" due to surgery having a throat cyst removed. It had been noticed by his make-up artist. He was not asked to appear in season two.

Doctor Who

Hancock's worked in several episodes of Doctor Who, including: Spearhead From Space in 1970, Planet Of The Daleks in 1973, Planet Of Evil in 1975, and The Ribos Operation in 1978.

Books

Hancock wrote a short 12-page book which included his experience working on Space: 1999, entitled Spaced-Out. It was published in 2006. He also wrote the Foreword to the Powys Media Space: 1999 novel The Forsaken by John Muir.

Fan Fiction

An early zine The Meeting Point contains fan interviews and fan fiction where actor Prentis Hancock meets Paul Morrow. Various other fan fiction stories feature Paul Morrow. The fanzines Catch the Final Sunrise!, Everything Yet To Be, The Alpha Files, Moonscape and The Return of Victor Bergman are all gen Space: 1999 short story collections of fan fiction by varied authors that include the character of Paul.
