There are several distinct manga series based on the Pokémon franchise, all with their own canon and characters. Most manga are adaptions of the main series of video games, but there are also manga adaptions of the Pokémon anime (as well as the films), manga based on spin-off games and trading card game, and original stories based on the Pokémon universe.
The series with the most fannish activity is Pokémon Adventures, commonly known as Pokémon Special or PokéSpe.
