Pinesalad Productions was an anime parody redubbing group that began in 1984. They produced three redubs of Robotech and four of Dirty Pair. In 2009 the episodes were remastered and uploaded to YouTube.
Pinesalad Productions Inc. is a fan production cartoon dubbing group based out of Orange County, California. ...The group began back in 1984 while Pam Buck (A.K.A. B-D Banzai) was sitting in the living room of one of the members of PPI. They decided to rewrite a Masengil Douche commercial for the heck of it... It was a while later when Pam and her sister were watching a Robotech episode, that the great inspiration occurred. They thought about a change in storyline where everyone in the SDF-1 was on drugs. What if Roy was a drug dealer, Rick was gay and chasing after Max, and a couple of love affairs amidst the crew were thrown in for the hell of it?Using an old VCR with an audio dubbing button, one microphone, and a group of talented voice actors that Streamline Pictures could only dream about, they set out to complete the storyline. The episode "How Drugs Won The War" was completed, and at a Creation Convention for Robotech in 1987, it premiered. Books Nippan let them use their VCR and television (they had no idea what they would be showing) and what came of it was some embarrassment for Books Nippan, and the beginning of a fan following for a group of animation fans who never thought things would get this out of hand.
HDWTW was shown at many C/FO meetings and a larger audience was soon formed. Fans began asking for another episode (remember that Robotech was still in it's hey day and people were still waiting for The Sentinels to be released.) and soon a sequal [sic] was thought up. There was a jump this time since the first episode dubbed was #18, they this time did #33 and produced the episode "So Glad You Could Pop By For A Sip Of Sherry, Slut". This developed the story of Roy Fokker's murder even further, putting both Claudia and Rick on the suspect list for the murder. It was because the shows were completely against the original plot that they succeeded so well. No one had done such a production before and as a result of this success, people asked for a third. But before the third episode was begun, the group took a slight detour to the 3WA.
Pinesalad was requested to do something different by the Orange County C/FO, and the suggestion was The Dirty Pair...
The first dub, "How Drugs Won the War", was premiered at CreationCon at Anaheim in 1987 and was subsequently shown at other conventions, including Baycon and A-Kon. It became a cult classic and was copied and re-copied and passed around various anime fan clubs.
Following the popularity of "How Drugs Won the War", the group released "So Glad You Could Stop by for a Sip of Sherry, Slut!" , followed by "Dirty Pair Does Dishes", which was the result of a request from the Orange chapter of C/FO. The Dirty Pair dub was so popular ("These tapes have seen more of the world than the people who make them")[1] that the group released another based on episode 26, "The Revenge of B.D.", which included many references to Megazone 23.

The final Robotech vid was "You Lying Hussy! I Thought You Were A Man!", which spliced the last half of episode 24 with the first half of episode 25 (the shoddy animation in 25 gives us away[1]). This was followed by "Fistfull of Pasta", and then "Viva La Dirty Pair", which was released in 1990. Following this, the group "extricat[ed] themselves from the anime parody community[2]", although some members remained; for example Peter Payne was co-founder of the parody fandub group, Seishun Shitamasu.
In the 2000s and 2010s, individuals from Pinesalad Productions appeared at various cons[3] with a panel "Create Your Own Anime Parody Dub: Tips from PineSalad Productions". In 2009, they released several of their works on their YouTube, before running afoul of that platform's copyright policies. There is also a Facebook site, where old materials and memories are shared.
