Percabeth is a het pairing of Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase that became canon during The Last Olympian, the last book of Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, although Rick Riordan hinted at it way back in the Sea of Monsters. It has the longest duration (it continued throughout the whole Heroes of Olympus series) and holds the status as the most popular het pairing.

Canon

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Percy Jackson is the main protagonist of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. He is the demigod son of Poseidon, and one of his closest companions is Annabeth Chase, a daughter of Athena. The clashing contrast of Percy's impulsive and headstrong personality with Annabeth, who while cunning and extremely intelligent is much more cautious in comparison, is the pinnacle of Percabeth''s relationship.

Percy meets Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and she tells him she finds his love life interesting and plans to make things difficult for him.

Heroes of Olympus

From the beginning of the Heroes of Olympus, the couple is separated by the gods' scheming. When introduced in "The Lost Hero", Annabeth explains that she and Percy have been dating since the events of "The Last Olympian" and she is desperately searching for him. Characters who have not met Percy generally know him as Annabeth's boyfriend, and everyone acknowledges how much she misses and worried for him. In "The Son of Neptune" Percy has amnesia, yet is driven by vague memories and Annabeth and knows she is his girlfriend and partner. The two are reunited in The Mark of Athena. At the end of The Mark of Athena, while they are dangling over Tartarus, Percy chooses to fall into the pit with Annabeth rather than leave her again.

Fandom

This pairing has not suffered the fate of many canon pairings such as Harry/Ginny in Harry Potter: it has the 'seal of approval' from fandom. This fact can be gleaned from the behaviour of the fans whose work doesn't contain this pairing: Annabeth in those fics, as a rule, is portrayed as his good friend (unless, of course, they aren't on the same side: Annabeth-bashing isn't very common).

On the other hand, many fans have played with it, creating entire subgenres and tropes in fandom such as infamous Percabeth goes to Goode High, Chaosfic or Guardian of Hunt.

Annabeth's nickname - at first an insult, now an affectionate reference to him being the son of Poseidon and at times obtuse - for Percy in canon is "Seaweed Brain." Percy has infrequently called Annabeth a number of names in retaliation, but fandom often acts like "Wise Girl" - in reference to her being a child of Athena - is his regular pet name for her and makes references to "Seaweed Brain and his Wise Girl."

The "Percabeth reunion" in The Mark of Athena, which was teased at the end of The Son of Neptune, was much anticipated by fans. When the pair fall into the pit of Tartarus together at the end of The Mark of Athena, there was an explosive outcry from fans, calling Rick Riordan out for "trolling" by making fans wait only to "throw Percabeth into Tartarus" at the last moment.

Bolt Academy has everything: prestige, affluence, renown. Almost every world leader, CEO, athlete, and have stepped through its doors. Problem is, it’s only for boys. It’s smooth sailing, that is until Annabeth’s roommate Percy Jackson - a nationally ranked freestyle swimmer - starts to have feelings for Andy. Coming to understand his sexual orientation, Percy navigates a campus filled with homophobia and hate crimes, all while every day taking a step closer to competing in the Olympics. Around every corner lies an opportunity for sabotage, and Percy has a target on his back. But when Percy discovers the secret that Annabeth has been keeping, hard choices must be made and neither are willing to let the other give up on their dreams.

The birth of Percy and Annabeth’s first child goes just the way one would expect it to — that is, not at all like it's supposed to and not at all easy. That’s sort of what happens when you mess with the patroness of childbirth.

Three times that Annabeth is prematurely called Mrs. Jackson and one time that it's long overdue.

Percy was slowly dying. Not literally, thank the Gods. No, it was the anticipation that was metaphorically killing him. It's the last day of school, and Percy is excited to go home and see his family. Little does he know a surprise is waiting for him.

It's the middle of December. There's snow outside, decorations are everywhere, songs are being sung, and everyone is feeling the holiday spirit. It's the perfect day to make some cookies. (In which Percy is cheesy and Annabeth is never trusting him with the mixer again.)
