Organization XIII, also known as The Organization, is a recurring group of characters in the Disney/Square Enix video game series Kingdom Hearts that serves as a major antagonistic force in multiple installments.
Canon background
Organization XIII is comprised of Nobodies, the empty bodies left behind when a person's heart has been lost to darkness. Membership is comprised of Nobodies strong-willed enough to retain human form after the loss of their heart. The group was initially founded by the students of Ansem the Wise with the ostensible goal of regaining their hearts through the completion of an artificial version of the titular heart of all worlds. The name of the group is derived from them having thirteen official members at the beginning of the series, though Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days later revealed the existence of a fourteenth member. Each member is assigned a number corresponding to the order in which they joined.

The group was canonically disbanded following the deaths of all their members in the first few games of the series, but were later reconstituted by Master Xehanort with a new roster in Dream Drop Distance (2012) and Kingdom Hearts III (2019).

Organization Self-Inserts
In the 2006-2010 era of the fandom, many fan writers wrote stories in which an Original Character joined the Organization as a form of self-insertion, either in place of or in addition to one of the canon members.
Fandom Holidays
Because the Organization members are numbered in the order they are joined, fans of the series commonly hold fan months and fan days on the months and days that correspond to each member's number, or on dates that correspond to different shipping combinations. Since there are only 12 months in a year, the fan months for Roxas and Xion, members thirteen and fourteen, are celebrated in January and February.
