Spock's grieving over the baby that was lost gave an unusual twist to a post TMP story. That was really a cold way for the Vulcans to treat such a tragic-to-us event. But believable under the circumstances. .Kirk asking McCoy to leave Spock alone for awhile until he had time to get used to his'emotions was good; as was McCoy eventually getting tired of it. I felt McCoy was really hurt that Spock didn't come to him for help - he'd fully expected him to. Kirk and Spock's conversations seemed a little stilted in a couple of places, but on the whole they were natural feeling. I especially liked Spock feeling that "something precious has been taken away from us" because of McCoy knowing about his and Kirk's relationship.

NO BETTER MIRROR by Charlotte Frost is a long story that tells the first year in Kirk's and Spock's relationship. It is well written, not exciting but leaves the reader with a sweet feeling. One of Charlotte's better stories.

Even though Spock is developing his emotions in this post-V'ger story. I find it unlikely that Spock would laugh when Kirk fell. It is cruel to laugh when people hurt themselves, and I can't imagine that Spock's experience with V'ger would have taught him to be cruel. I also have a criticism of Kirk's portrayal. I think that Kirk would have been more considerate of Spock's feelings after the invasive medical exam, and wouldn't have chosen that occasion to fuck him for the first time. I also don't understand why Spock had to block the K/S link in order to concentrate on messaging Kirk. How much concentration does a massage need when you've done it many times? Isn't the feedback through the link always desirable during sexual activity?
