Nakahara Chuuya is a popular character in the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom.
History
As a minor character in the main manga, Chuuya initially only appeared a handful of times in canon, but he quickly became a popular character in fandom. This was due in part to his powerful Ability, appealing character design, and juggernaut ship status with Dazai Osamu. Later, the Dazai and Chuuya: Fifteen light novel and manga were published, followed by Stormbringer, in which he is the main character. He also plays a crucial role in Dead Apple.

Fanon and Common Tropes in Fanworks
French Influence
In fic, Chuuya is sometimes depicted as having French ancestry or being fluent in French. This may initially have been because the real Chuuya Nakahara took influence from French authors (most notably Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine), as well as his more "foreign" appearance.[1] Stormbringer introduced Verlaine as a character who sees himself as Chuuya's older brother, and in fics where the two are actually related by blood or adoption, they are often both French or part French.
Courtesan AUs
Chuuya is also often depicted in courtesan AUs under the tutelage of his mentor, Kouyou Ozaki. Although Kouyou has no canon ties to the Red-Light District, her appearance, manner of speaking, and having possibly mentored Kyouka Izumi (who once suggests getting out of a situation by using her "feminine wiles") lead many fans to headcanon her--and by extension, Chuuya--as such. Other Common Tropes
- Whump: Because of Chuuya's Ability, For the Tainted Sorrow, he gets hurt often, an experience that fandom enjoys exploring.
- Angst: Chuuya is host to a god known as Arahabaki, the God of Calamity. As a result, he is often manipulated by other people who wish to harness that power for themselves, which causes much angst on his behalf.
