Maki Harukawa & Kaito Momota & Shuichi Saihara, known primarily as the Training Trio, is a popular gen (combi in Japanese) relationship within the Dangan Ronpa fandom. The ship is between Maki Harukawa, Kaito Momota and Shuichi Saihara. It has been shipped since Dangan Ronpa V3: Killing Harmony was released in 2017.
The three are seen as a trio, both in canon and by fans.
The ship is not to be confused for the poly Maki Harukawa/Kaito Momota/Shuichi Saihara, which is less common.
Canon Background
Popular Tropes & Fanon
- Friendship, Fluff and Teamwork are all common. All three may workout together, keeping with canon, or stargaze, given Momota's interest in them.
- Side Ship: in many Maki Harukawa/Kaito Momota works. It is also often side ship in overall rarer Maki Harukawa/Shuichi Saihara and Kaito Momota/Shuichi Saihara. Ships involving Kokichi Ouma, namely Kokichi Ouma/Shuichi Saihara and Kaito Momota/Kokichi Ouma, also often have the trio as a side pairing. Having the trio be a side pairing in Maki Harukawa/Kokichi Ouma works isn't unheard of, but is much rarer.
- Angst: very common for Harukawa and Saihara after Momota's death in chapter 5.
