Reactions and Reviews
[Kyl, reviewed by Aralias]: Avon kidfic! My not-at-all-secret weakness. (Another echo of Hellhound - which has to have been written... after this? Close, though.)Kyl himself is somewhat of a device rather than a person, but he's not unlikeable. I like Avon with him, and I like that Kyl is sort of weirded out that Avon has a girlfriend even though he's only just accepted that Avon is his dad. I like that Vila noticed before we were told, and I love that Blake had a conversation with Avon about it.
I also think this (i.e. Avon's wife being political without him knowing it) is actually a pretty good explanation for what happened with the Avon/Anna business - although it positions Avon as much older than most other fics i.e. he's had two reasonably great loves before we find him on the London. I don't object though, as I usually try and write Avon old.
Anyway, obviously I liked this story a lot. But it does play to my narrative kinks, so take that opinion with a pinch of salt, and presumably a healthy scepticism of kidfic.[2]
