The Annual Kim Possible Fannie Awards is an annual Award-ceremony fic dedicated to Kim Possible Fanfiction. The Award was originally created by the author Zaratan, who wrote the first four ceremonies, and posted them on his Fanfiction.net account. Nominations were listed on the Fannies site, which was hosted by Commander Argus, and votes were taken via fanfiction.net's direct mailing system.
After Zaratan announced they were going on hiatus, The KP Fannie Committee account was then established to manage the awards, with different authors stepping up to pen the award ceremonies. Fics were not written for the 6th and 7th fannies, but the results were posted on the Fanfiction.net forums.
With the exception of the community awards, only stories published on Fanfiction.Net are eligible.
Categories
These are the categories that make up the typical annual roster.
1) Best KP-Style Name - This category will be for the best name done in the KP style. Kim Possible had been a wordplay for Impossible, Ron Stoppable had been a wordplay for Unstoppable, and Camille Leon had been a wordplay for Chameleon. Nominees for this category would be KP style names that you liked. (Note: Possible and Stoppable names are ineligible for the award since the Committee wants variety.)
2) Best Original Character
3) Best Minor Character - This is a category for characters that were minor characters in the series. (Kim, Ron w/Rufus, Wade, Drakken, and Shego are classified as the main MAJOR characters of the show and are ineligible for this award)
4) Best Villain - Can be original or a character who was in the show.
5) Best Songfic - Best songfic in the year. Bear in mind, it MUST conform the rules of FFnet about not using copyrighted lyrics. Has not been presented since the 14th Fannies.
6) Best AU Story
7) Best Crossover/Fusion
8) Best Alternate/Other Canon Pairing - For pairings other than the "Big Three" (Kigo, Drakgo, Kim/Ron)
9) Best KiGo Story
10) Best Drakgo Story
11) Best Kim/Ron Story
12) Best Comedy Story
13) Best Romance Story
14) Best Friendship Story
15) Best Action/Adventure Story
16) Best Drama Story
17) Most Unlikely-Unique Story - The story should be told in a way that you buy it, but basically a story that shows a situation incredibly unlikely (or unique) to happen in the show but still seemingly plausible and possibly hilarious.
18) Best One-Shot Overall - This is for stories that are one-shot. One chapter. If there's some story that has a second chapter only because of an author's note explaining something bad FFNet had done to the published version of the story or something, we'll deal with that on a case-by-case basis. This category is reserved for stories rated K-T. The Mature section has an award of their own.
19) Best Novel-Sized Story - Best story of novel-like size. For our purposes we'll consider stories that are 40,000 or more words eligible. We'll be using FFNet's word count for this, but in borderline cases if your word processor said something was 40,000 words but it ends up less according to FFNet's count, we'll handle that on a case-by-case basis. This category is reserved for stories rated K-T. The Mature section has an award of their own.
20) Best Short Story - Best story between 3,000 and 15,000 words. Please note that there's a separate one-shot category. This category is good for fairly short stories that might still be a couple chapters long. Like with novels, we'll go off FFNet's word count, but in borderline cases we'll figure out if something is eligible on a case-by-case basis. This category is reserved for stories rated K-T. The Mature section has an award of their own.
21) Best Series Overall
22) Best Mature-Rated Novel-Sized Story - This award is given to the best M-Rated fic (allowable within FFnet's rules) that are over 20,000 words.
23) Best Mature-Rated Short-Story - This award is given to the best M-Rated fic (allowable within FFnet's rules) that are between 2,000 and 20,000 words.
24) Best Mature-Rated One-Shot - This award is given to the best M-Rated fic (allowable within FFnet's rules) that is a one-shot.
25) Best Young Author - This award is given to the author who was between the ages of 14 and 19 during the voting cycle
26) Best New Author - Someone who started writing KP fics that year.
27) Best Single Line
28) CPNEB Memorial Award - This award, unique to the fandom, is presented to the individual who has made significant contributions throughout his/her Kimmunity career. It can cover anyone from the following places (FFnet, Deviantart, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, the KP Forums that are still active).
29) Kimmunity Achievement Award - This award is given to people in the Kimmunity that has helped out others in the past. It is the equivalent to a Lifetime Achievement Award.
