Just Shy of Reality was a Hanson forum focused on discussion of hanfic. It opened in December 2005 and went down at the end of 2011. It was moderated by Brittney of Alone In The Pretense.
Although the forum did not specifically ban discussion of slash or incest, it was most frequented by het fans and incest was a hot button topic with many of the forum's members.
As of December 12, 2012, the forum had 114 registered members.
Book Club and Critique Corner
These were two similar features of the forum that ran at different times. The book club was moderated by Becca and fostered discussion of one fic at a time. The Critique Corner was moderated by Flash and Bethany and worked similarly, but with the aim of providing constructive criticism rather than just discussion. Those who provided critiques earned higher positions on the list of fics to be discussion.
News Center
The JSOR News Center[1] was a website that Brittney ran as a side project of the forum beginning in late 2009 and through most of 2010. The news center had a calendar of events such as awards and challenges. Fans could also sign up for a monthly email newsletter that included events as well as new fics and completed fics.
Zine
In June 2006, Brittney announced that JSOR would also be starting an ezine for all things hanfic. It appears to have only run for one issue. More information can be found here.
