Jandra is a general Star Wars fanzine novel written by Lucy Miller under the pen name, Lucy Rhonur. It was published in 1993 and has 51 pages.
The story is set between the time of the fall of the Old Republic and ends a bit after ROTJ. Jandra is a young Force user trying to figure out what to do with her life in a time when that's a very dangerous thing to be. In the course of that journey, she comes in contact with Luke Skywalker through the Force, and is caught up in the events of the Rebellion, if only from a distance. A friendship grows between them, but events conspire to keep them on separate paths for a many years.
The origins of the story date back to a trip to Milwaukee, Wi by a group of SF fans from Madison, Wi. in 1980:
Since the Brown Deer theater in Milwaukee was the only 70mm theater in Wisconsin at the time, we went there for the premiere of 'Empire'. On the way back, there were two main discussions: was Vader telling the truth about being Luke's father, and who the 'another' was that Yoda mentioned. The speculation on the 'other' was pretty wild; some people even suggested Chewie and (really?) Boba Fett. But out of one suggestion came the idea for this story; I knew exactly who the character was, including her origins and her fate. I started writing it in 1980 but didn't finish it at that time. Then I found a copy some 13 years later, and since I had the time, I completed it. A friend laid it out, designed the cover page, printed it and took a bunch to a convention, where he sold them. I kept two copies, one of which I had Mark Hamill sign at a convention, and the other that I gave to him. (I still cringe that I had the nerve to do such a geeky thing.)
I'm not claiming anything great for it; just the enthusiasms of a (then) young Star Wars fan, and someone who very much wants to write.
I still have the story available to print, if anyone out there wants a copy.
