Jimmy Olsen made his first appearance in Action Comics #6. (1938)
James Bartholomew "Jimmy" Olsen is well recognized as Superman's best pal. He is an investigative reporter and photo-journalist, formerly a copy-boy, working at the Daily Planet since his teenage years. His closest friends and co-workers are Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Perry White. Olsen has no consistent superpowers of his own, but he is frequently put into situations where he develops bizarre transformations or mutations allowing him to develop weird special abilities. Superman has given him a Signal Watch to call on in case he is ever in danger and needs help. He has been a member of Project Cadmus and the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Jimmy was a young photographer, general gopher, and computer hacker working for the Daily Planet throughout the run of the show. He frequently risked his life in pursuit of stories, and was rescued by Superman on several occasions. In turn his computer skills frequently helped save the day. His father was Jack Olsen, spy for a covert government agency. The character was played by two different actors; Michael Landes in the first season and Justin Whalin for the other three, but his sudden change in appearance is rarely mentioned in fanfic.[1]
Smallville
Jimmy was a young photographer who lived in Metropolis and worked at the Daily Planet until shortly before his death. He married Chloe Sullivan in 2008, although they later divorced. Eager to advance his career and make a name for himself, Jimmy was a dedicated journalist. He was always determined to pursue a story, or get to the bottom of an investigation to photograph the best news.[2]
Supergirl (TV Series)
James is the best friend of Clark Kent and Winn Schott, and the former art director and former acting CEO of CatCo Worldwide Media, who was promoted by Cat Grant to be a stand-in for her while she is on her leave of absence from the company. Always longing for his own brand of justice, James asks his best friend Winn Schott to help him in his quest and adopts the guise of Guardian, a vigilante operating in National City.[3]
