Canon Depictions
Treasure Island
Hands is a member of the crew hired on by Trelawney at the suggestion of John Silver to the Hispaniola for the journey to Skeleton Island to retrieve the lost treasure of Captain Flint. Having sailed with Flint originally, he takes part in the mutiny against Captain Smollett, under Long John Silver. He ultimately gets killed by Jim Hawkins.
Black Sails
Hands has been living in the Wrecks since his banishment from Nassau a decade prior to the show's opening. He captures John Silver at the beginning of season 4, with the intent to sell him off to the governor for 500 (currency). Instead, Silver convinces him to make a deal with Max instead, which goes awry when she declines and attempts to capture Silver herself. Silver manages to convince him of their plans for a future for the pirates in Nassau, and when Captain Flint comes to rescue Silver, Hands decides to go with them and serve as Silver's protection.
