This story was rejiggered and published in the January 1996 issue of "Asimov's Science Fiction", a long-running pro-publication.
Russ removed the Star Trek references and changed the gender of one character to female. She kept the same title.
A fan in K/S fan in 1996 remarked:
Longtime K/Sfans will recognize this as being very similar to Janet Alex's "Invasion" published in T'hy'la 4. The names and one sex have been changed. Still a great story. [1]

Cute little romp. Enterprise is invaded by curious and mischievous "Littles" - who are kids in yellow overalls in their "yooman" form, and pyramids of green jello in their natural form. They leave Jim thinking about having kids. [2]
